In this unit after watching two videos of good and poor instruction in a real classroom I got to see the key differences in gesture and teaching that affect student performance. In the first video the teacher came straight into the classroom and started teaching without introducing himself, giving good context for the lesson, or doing the engage phase to catch the interest of the students. The lesson was confusing for them because he talked fast and repeated his questioning. In the second lesson he built a relationship with the students by asking them their names. He also followed the lesson structure and was friendly and engaging. You can see in the second video that the students were a lot more talkative and interested in the lesson.
