This unit taught me the primary difference between fluency and accuracy activities. Fluency activities focus on the students' creativity and familiarity with the language. Accuracy activities, on the other hand, focus more on the production of correct language. Certain activities should be used to elicit each of these. Controlled activities are closely associated with accuracy because the teacher can control the output of the language. Drilling and prompting are two examples of this. Fluency based activities place the student at the center of language generation. Role-playing is good example of this form of activity.
