This unit covered phonology and more specifically intonation and stress. Intonation covers the flow and meaning of a whole sentence while stress places specific emphasis on singular words. It can be easier to hear the flow of a sentence but to communicate it through writing you use the phonetic alphabet which is universal, no matter what accent a speaker has.
