This lesson covered pronunciation and phonology. It covered the international phonetic alphabet, different kinds of sounds and how they are produced, stress and intonation in language, as well as teaching techniques for pronunciation. I found this lesson very interesting because of my background as an actor. As an actor I have used the international phonetic alphabet before, though I admit that it has been a while. As an actor it proved useful, and I'm sure that it will be a useful tool in teaching English as a second language as well. Also as an actor I frequently work with emphasis, intonation, and word and syllabic stress, especially when performing classical texts. From this experience I've found that work with phonology and pronunciation are some of my favorite parts of the working with the English language.
