Unit 13 contained information on pronunciation and phonology and examined the role that these concepts play in learning the English language. It pointed out that the intricacies of pronunciation is often not taught to teachers, but does play a critical role in teaching a universal English to non-native English speakers. This was difficult material for me as a learner, so I can foresee many obstacles arising in the classroom teaching pronunciation. The information on phonology and its role in the process of producing sounds will be critical in teaching pronunciation. Unit 13 also pointed out that many English language learners (non-native) will be motivated to speak correctly.
