Phonology, in the study of language, is the study, science,analysis, and classification of the physical properties of sound. The term is increasingly used to indicate the whole sound system of a particular language. Individual sounds in connected speech can be difficult for students to perceive in isolation. This is because someone engaged in the act of communication is in tryouts to understand what is being said. Intonation is considered to.be the variation in volume and pitch in the entire sentence whereas stress is more concerned with individual words.
