Teach English in Dongyang - Hebi Shi
Unit 18 covers modal auxiliary verbs (may, must, can, could, should, would, etc.), passive vs. active voice, relative clauses (compared to independent/dependent clauses), and three types of phrasal verbs: intransitive, transitive separable, and transitive inseparable. All of these ESL topics require a comprehensive understanding of basic English grammar rules and vocabulary, and thus would be best reserved for more advanced ESL classes. Phrasal verbs are particularly important in conversational English comprehension and fluency, while an understanding of passive/active voice is more important for fluency in written English.
