When I was teaching as an intern at an academic institution, my mentor teacher has taught me that the actual teaching time spent in a classroom is a lot less than the time spent sitting in front of a desk preparing for course materials. In order to lead the class to a successful lesson, I have to not only make sure that my lesson plans innovative, but also choose course books in a selective manner to suit the needs of my students. Taking their level of proficiency and comprehension into account, I will have to learn the ropes on getting the right material.
