I learned about parts of speech and understanding how to label them, to explain to students who have questions about why to use certain words, and it will help to explain when forming grammar and sentences, which words to use, based on what kind of words they are with their functions. I learned about articles, verb forms, gerunds, pronouns; possessive,relative, personal, reflective, and whether they are common, proper, abstract or collective. These categories of pronouns has taught me how to explain their differences to students.
