The content of this unit focused on the productive skills of writing and speaking for communicative purposes. The unit provided a brief overview of the equal importance of writing and speaking in the classroom, of which writing is often pushed to the wayside as language production (via speaking) is highly valued in the English as an additional language classroom. I found this aspect of the unit intriguing as much of my school career was based on language production through the productive skill of writing rather than speaking.
