Lesson planning Dos and Don'ts
Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. In the English language we use modal verbs to show if we think something is certain, probable or possible. We also use it to talk about ability, to make requests and offers, and to ask permission, in different degrees of formality. Intransitive phrasal verbs also occur in the English language sentence structure. The key is the ability to pick out the direct object. Try and encourage the students to use phrasal verbs in the classroom so that they become more familiar with them. This will hopefully encourage students to use them naturally for themselves.
