During this unit, the method for teaching productive skills was discussed. Productive skills include speaking and writing skills, in which the learners produce the target language, rather than simply interpret the language. A lesson focused on productive skills should still follow an ESA straight arrow (or some variety of ESA) lesson plan so as to promote student growth. Throughout the lesson, the teacher should employ various activities and methods for engaging students and for formatively assessing the progress the students make throughout the class.
