Until I went through this unit I did not realize that receptive and productive skills can or should be isolated when teaching a language. I was enlightening to learn the mechanics of language reception and the various modes one reads in. The constant bombardment of information we get from the media like TV, radio and print depends a lot on the mastery of the language particularly receptive skills and how one can maintain their sanity by deciding the mode in which they are going to engage with media content as in predictive skills, scanning, skimming etc.
