Unit 11 covers receptive skills which involve the ability to listen and read. This unit covered common problem situations for EFL teachers and how best to manage them, in particular:↵the best approach to first lessons, best approach with large groups, how to handle differences in levels or reluctant students and using listening texts. I found the information on first lessons particularly useful and think that the planning for a first lesson is very important. Generally, a lot of the material in the unit is also covered to some extent in other units, but the unit serves as a good revision of some of the key problem situations that one is likely to encounter.
