special offer
Our 170-hour Teaching English as a Foreign Language with Online Specialization has been designed for those who would like to gain a qualification to enter the TEFL/TESOL employment market and wish to maximize their options. Through this course we will give you the knowledge and skills needed to teach English in both classroom and online settings. The course is taken in two parts: First, our 120-hour certification is completed. This is followed by a further 50-hours of study looking at the particular skills needed to teach English online. One added benefit of the course is that on completion you will gain access to a unique graduate network, connecting you to ITTT alumni currently employed by many of the major employers in online teaching.
The 120-hour TEFL course must be taken and completed first, followed by the 50-hour TEO course. You will be given the choice of a single 170-hour certificate that encompasses the full course package once both sections have been successfully completed, or receiving two individual certificates (at an additional cost) as you work through each course component. Please note that you can only choose either one of these two certificate options, but PDF certificates are made immediately available to you for all certificates issued.

TEFL Course Aims
Our 170-hour online TEFL course provides you with a comprehensive introduction to the world of teaching English as a foreign language. Upon completion of the 120-hour course section you should have developed a good working knowledge of the English grammar system, as well as a variety of useful skills and techniques that will help you to deliver interesting and well constructed lessons in the classroom.
Upon successfully completing the full 170-hour course, graduates should be able to discuss and evaluate the process of teaching English online using industry standard terminology, have real-world ideas for creating individual lessons that are tailored to the student’s requirements, while also having clear ideas on how to execute the lessons to a wide spectrum of online individuals or groups. They should also be able to locate and create suitable materials for teaching English online and develop assessment procedures.
Target Group
This course is designed for current teachers or trainees who have no previous TEFL experience and are looking for an initial certificate to get their teaching journey under way. It is suitable for anyone who is already working or intends to work within the field of English language teaching either online or in a traditional classroom.
Tutor Support
This two course bundle includes the support of an online tutor for the duration of both courses. Throughout your studies you will have access to the assistance of our experienced online tutors who you can contact at any time with any questions or problems you may have. Our tutors will respond with help and advice via email within one working day.
Optional Teaching Practice
This course comes with the option of additional teaching practice that can be completed without having to attend one of our training centers. This will allow you to gain further teaching knowledge and some invaluable time in the classroom before you head off to start your first real-life teaching position. There are two different options for how the lessons are undertaken and verified:
Option 1: You can find a school or language center of your choice (either in-class or online) and teach your lessons there. The school will sign off that you have completed these lessons and your documents will be sent to ITTT for verification.
Option 2: You can find your own student/s and teach the lessons independently at a location of your choice, either face-to-face or remotely. You will need to video one of these sessions (1 hour) and send it to ITTT with your other documentation for verification.
Post-Course Job Guidance
Once you have completed your course, we can provide you with all the reasonable services and assistance possible to help you secure a TEFL teaching position. This includes the following:
- Resume/CV preparation guidance.
- How to find TEFL employment vacancies.
