What is a lesson plan?
First of all, a lesson plan is a step-by-step guide that provides a structure for essential learning. It helps the teacher in maintaining a standard teaching pattern and does not let the class deviate from the topic. It tells the teacher how the teaching should progress with the contents of the lecture. It helps teachers ensure that the day-to-day activities that go on in their classrooms are providing students with an adequate level of long term progress toward the goals outlined in their scope and sequence, as well as their educational plans when necessary.

Applicability of a lesson plan
Secondly, lesson planning is a perfect time management tool in the classroom. A good lesson planning will help teachers lecture the important sections or a topic within a prescribed period. With this tool in your hand, you will be able to teach with a better sense of direction and control. There will a lot of free time focus on improvising your abilities as an educator.
Thirdly, lesson planning can help you to become a confident teacher. With a lesson plan in your hand, the teacher is clear on what needs to be done, how and when. The lesson will tend to flow more smoothies because all information has been gathered and the details have been decided upon beforehand. The teacher will not waste class time flipping through the textbook, thinking of what to do the next… So the teacher can save time to discuss with their students. The teacher can be able to make a particular lesson in a limited time frame. This will engage the student in communication and help them in retaining the lesson. The teacher will become to be known as a confident teacher who is well-informed and highly knowledgeable faculty.
Besides that, lesson planning sets the anticipatory mood for students. Also, with lesson planning, the teacher has time to prepare flashcards, games, pictures, gifts, videos… at home.

Lesson planning helps the teacher to evaluate their teaching and to compare it with set objectives. This evaluation will help the teacher in achieving the set targets in a better way.
