What is Motivation and How does it Influence Students?
A vast majority of people nowadays complain about motivation deficiency that does not allow them to progress in all spheres of life. They simply feel adhered to one spot and have no desire to act and realize goals and aims which later leads to frustration. This tendency also is quite cognizable among teachers, as they have to work with unmotivated students daily. The view that I tend towards is that to tackle a problem of motivation absence a competent teacher should comprehend several aspects such as what is motivation, why students do not have the enthusiasm to study, how to identify sources of motivation deficiency and finally, how to motivate and inspire students to study.

The Essence of Motivation
Firstly, motivation is an impulse, which urges humans to take action towards settled goals and achieve them. In other words, it is a power that inspires humans to take action to get the desired result. On our occasion, it is learning the English language for different purposes by different learners in terms of age and aims.
It is common knowledge that students usually have a lack of motivation due to the following main reasons: procrastination and uncertainty.
To begin with, in the modern era the term “procrastination” is repeated over and over again. People are trying to give it up, but the outcome is not successful. Sociologists are trying to create methods to implement to help people to get grips with postponing important deeds. Interestingly, surveys conducted at different universities and schools show that students of universities are proven to be more likely to procrastinate till one night before the exam date and get average scores at the best-case scenario. The same is applicable when it comes to language learning. Tasks are given by a language instructor are postponed or sometimes even are not done. The second cause is perplexity. Learners are not sure why do they need English and how to figure it out. The reason why they engage in learning is simply mainstream. They are not eager to feel inferior to those who know English and as a result embark on learning it without setting any aim. It is known that not having a particular goal leads to a loss of enthusiasm in all endeavors and English is not an exception.

Teacher’s Role
It is not a secret that a teacher’s role is unimaginably crucial in motivating students as it is a milestone of language acquisition. Therefore, the initial step should be identifying core reasons for motivation shortage. For example, if a student does not know how to implement English and reasons of learning, a pivotal help would be to show him interesting videos or talk about English and American writers’ masterpieces to provoke a desire to watch and read them in original version or to talk about education opportunities in foreign countries and the doors which the English language could unlock.

Finally, If a teacher wants his students to master the English language, she should not underestimate the motivation factor in class as it is of the utmost importance. A qualified teacher himself should be highly motivated to motivate students to achieve their goals and before it to identify them.
