I learned a lot from this lesson, most importantly when it comes to teacher attitude and the effect it can have on the class. Myself, being a native English speaker and not even being in the classroom, found myself cringing at how the teacher was carrying on in the first lesson but in the second lesson he was more organized, positive, upbeat, supportive, and overall connected with the students and made them feel comfortable which kept them engaged. I liked the various activities he engaged the class in such as group work, full class participation activities, asking different students for participation at certain moments during the lesson etc. Overall, these two videos provided a clear image and idea of how to NOT teach a language class to foreign speakers (the first video) and how TO teach a class to foreign speakers (the second video) to get the most out of the students and leave the students feeling more comfortable and engaged in the classroom setting.
