This video unit allows us to watch two English classes being taught by the same person to the same group of students. I believe the purpose of this lesson was to allow us to see the differences and benefits of a well taught class, versus a poorly taught class. I was easily able to identify many errors the teacher made in the first video, such as seeming un-prepared, speaking in a confusing manner, shooting down students answers by retorting “no,” not giving clear direction and appearing distracted during the Study phase. These mistakes were highlighted by contrasting them with the second video where the teacher did a much better job. It was easy to see how much better the students responded and engaged in the second video. The teacher’s attitude and level of preparedness and technique can really make a major impact in every class.
