Teach English in SijiAzi Zhen - Chifeng Shi
Parents role in education is so important. Especially for children, parents must help teachers at home if they want fast and good result. I work in early education and I admit, that if not parent’s motivation, just only teachers can not reach success. Kid’s first socialization is their family. They try to copy parent’s habits, try to like what they like, parents manners and so on… just for my example is enough to understand how important is parents role in education;- when I was small my mom started learning English with me and I still remember how motivated she was, still remember her sparkling eyes and excitement when she was studying with me – in a one word, she gave me the best motivation ever and she made English one of my favorite subject and doing homework was just fun for me. When I was working in China (2-10 years old kids) I had many presentations with parents to describe how important was their role and parents help. Asian parents are different from Europeans, In Asia competition Is high and most parents are pushing kids to learn without any solidarity or interest of subject. But still I had many parents with that sparkling eyes when they were attending (sometimes) my lessons, they were trying to use English words in everyday life with them as well, and there were parents with smart kids who were not interested at all what or how their kids were learning and still complaining that their kid was not doing too much homework at home and they did not know a good English, but they didn’t know that their kids knowledge. So here are really complicated and helpful parents at the same time. Parents should find appropriate time of their kid’s homework, especially if kid just started learning foreign language, first it must be introductory, and there is no need to hurry or count how many words their kids are learning everyday. Find time for homework is one of the important, for example, Parents can just turn on CD or DVD when they are traveling by car, when kids are playing (background hearing), when they are eating… parents must not push kids to start homework when they are playing the most interesting games or when they are not on a good mood. In Austria I had different parents, they were careful, so patient and relaxing. For them the most important was creative teaching to improve kid’s imagination. Parents role in education were more outstanding, observing, in a one word they were not hurrying which was pretty nice but sometimes it was too much. In conclusion, I think parents should learn English at least just from the beginning (especially in early education 2-6), parent’s motivation and interest will push their kids to learn foreign language and will help teachers to get fast results. At the same time parents must be patients, teacher is not God to reach success in one or two month, it takes time, kids can learn faster by doing homework, parents interests and appropriate teaching environment, and a good teacher as well.
