Why complete a TEFL course？I am not a native speaker, and English is not my major. I am not even a teacher. I love my job,even though it’s tough sometimes, and I am old ,it’s very unlikely that English-teaching would become a full time career for me.So even me myself will ask the question: Why complete a TEFL course？I will talk about it in two different ways,that is: before apply for the course and after a couple of courses finished. Before apply for the TEFL course. It’s because of the love for English language and literature. I did not got a chance to go to college,that means I did not have a chance to choose English language and literature as a major, I love the career I’ve chosen and devoted to it ever since,but,still,the love for English never stop.I think it’s very ok to love my job now and at the same time to consider to get a part time English-teaching job since I do not want to stop English-learning. At first,I want to learn English language and literature through Chinese self-learning system ,but,the system demands the learning of another language except English,because of the crazily busy working schedule,the demand is an mission impossible for me.Then,by chance,I got a link of ITTT TEFL course ads from a friend,I think,ok,how about learning how to teach English,this way, I go on learning English(both the lessons and tests are all written in English itself,not a single Chinese character) and at the same time,learn how to teach English,isn’t that awesomely marvellous? Also,after so many years of learning English,though I do it just through watching movies and reading novels etc ,I feel that I can never reach the level of that a very young native speaker does,but why? I want to find some of the answers through completing a TEFL course. After a couple of TEFL courses finished. I have already finished some of TEFL courses, here I’ll copy a lot from ITT TEFL course ads,but,truely,I have to,some of the sentences are exactly the very reason why I complete a TEFL course and why I go on completing a TEFL course,the reasons are as follows: “Our courses are open to anyone over the age of 17 who is a native English speaker or a fluent speaker of English”. After finishing some of the couses and past the exam smoothly,I feel flattered and get so much confidence,see,at least,I’m a fluent speaker of English. “You are able to study in the comfort of your own home or office and you can complete the course at your own pace”. I can finish two units in one day if I got the time, if the work schedule is busy, I can ignore the course for a couple of days,as long as I do not forget the dead line.It’s very convenient and a kind of luxury. “Course graduates are awarded an internationally recognized and accredited qualification”. I’ve already got two certificates of TEFL,impressive. “We provide all our trainees with a video of an experienced EFL professional actually teaching in the classroom”. The video is impressive, one can actually do the same when practicing teaching. ...... All in all, “With a combination of TEFL training and TEFL internationally recognized certification, we will have everything we need to travel and teach English abroad”. That’s WHY.
