In this unit I learned about teaching productive skills such as writing and speaking. Concerning writing we need to consider a few topics, punctuation, spelling, creative writing and handwriting. Of these topics I would say that spelling is the most important. I myself am not the best at this skill. If the student has poor spelling it can make it difficult for the reader to understand and may give the impression that the reader is uneducated. It is understandable why students struggle with this as the English language is not phonetic. Also many words are spelled differently and sound the same and are spelled the same and sound different. The best way to overcome these issues is to read a lot, and simply memorize the spelling.
