The Future Tenses 1) The future simple – I will eat later (Affirmative: S + will/shall + verb) 2) The future continuous – I will be going soon (Affirmative: S + will + be + verb+ing) 3) The future perfect – I will have finished eating by 6 o’clock (Affirmative: S + will + have + past participle) 4) The future perfect continuous – He’ll have been drinking for hours before we arrive. (Affirmative: S + will + have + been + verb+ing) 5) Be going + infinitive – It’s going to rain later (am/is/are + going to + verb) 6) The present simple – I will leave from here 5.30 PM (S+V+) 7) The present continuous – I am meeting her for coffee tomorrow. (S + are/is/am + verb+ing) Tenses six and seven are often used as present tenses but they can also be future tenses. Five and seven are used most frequently.
