This unit is about the future tenses and their seven variants. The unit explains how the future tense is often difficult to teach as so many different tenses can be used with future meanings. There are, as is common with the past and present tenses, the four standards: future simple, future continuous, future perfect and future perfect continuous tenses, as well as the “Be going + infinitive,” the present simple and present continuous tenses. As has been the case with the other units on tense, each of the future tenses is broken down with grammatical forms, intended uses and example teaching activities for the Activate phase of the ESA teaching model.
