Self-confidence is not an easy trait to gain, especially when we talk about teachers. Self- confidence is obvious and easy to observe from all people, whether students or other teachers. When the teacher has a lack or weakness in self-confidence, their students or their coworkers will see that during the explanation, when she/he talks in front of the students and answering some questions in the class. Self-confidence is also associated with creativity, whenever the teacher is confident of himself/herself then, he/she will show the creative aspect of him/her. TESOL/TEFLL teach the teachers how to be a creative, professional and have a background about their career. TESOL/TEFLL provide to the new teacher all the new materials, methods and techniques they can use it in their classroom. Unfortunately, if your students noticed that you are nervous or tense, they will make fun of you and unfortunately you will find another career. Confidence starts from you and increase by you. Confidence is something cannot practice it or faked, build confidence will not happen in one day or even in one month. We need as teachers to learn as much as we can, practice English language and take important courses that can help us improve our career. To build confidence inside you, you must be prepared. Prepare your lesson, goal and activities before you go to the class. Body language is so important for the confidence. Teachers who tend to use body language during the class will be more confident and make their students feel that their teacher is full of confidence, so walking tall will give you as a teacher or new teacher with no experiences a full of self-confidence. As a teacher, you must have a backup or Plan B, just in case something happens and don’t show to your students that you are hesitated. Be strict sometimes. Never allow the rude students to increase, you must create some rules before any of this to happen and apply the rules. Don’t just put some rules and every time you forgive them, they will think and believe that you are not strict. Try as much as you can to keep improving yourself, even an experienced teacher makes mistakes. Try to make your rules, style of teaching and the way you talk must be simple and clear. Don’t exaggerating while you talk or explain something. The good teacher doesn’t offense their students and if he/she does that, directly the students will not respect her/him and will make her/his class terrible Effective teacher tries as much as they can to improve themselves and learn from their mistakes. Ineffective teachers try to avoid their students’ opinion and keep doing the same mistakes. Ineffective teachers like the “tradition teacher” while effective teacher like “creative teacher”. For a new teacher with no experiences, they must know the content and try to read about their career, the role of the teacher inside the class and the role of students. They must prepare themselves before they teach. Finally, a great teacher doesn’t rely on only the experiences, many teachers have been teaching for 15 years but they still traditional teacher. To be a creative teacher, don’t just look for experience and how many experiences do you have, look at your skills, knowledge, ability and your new methods.
