How online resources support my teaching? Online resources have supported my teaching greatly, and they are making my teaching significantly easier and more effective. The first advantage of online resources is that using high-speed search engines, such as Google, Youtube, and Bing, will definitely save you a great amount of time. Showing real business cases via online videos to business English learners would be one of the best ways to improve presenting skills. Drawing attention from young children via playing short animation clips can simplify your teaching process without any exhausting steps. As the internet developing rapidly, we need online resources with greater enthusiasm, because they: • Create a fantastic variety of learning materials and avoid boring text books. • Let students see actual products in successful business cases and leave visual impressions. • Help students focus on the learning material better. • Minimize distractions for students. • Take much shorter time to discover proper materials to match teaching objectives. For example, a business English client would like to obtain professional demonstrating skills of his fashion brand. I then spend less than 2 minutes to find a three-minute long clip, presenting world-class fashion brand-Louis Vuitton- from the official channel on Youtube. The client will directly get the ideas of how LV’s presenter introduces their brand passion, customer base, brand image, etc.. It is a rapid English language learning process. The student can easily get familiar with the steps of introduction, the logic of presenting and even the intonation, as well as the proper type of visual impacts that he could show to his own audience. Apparently, online resources generate better flexibility and efficiency for teaching for a fact. Also for high school students’ education, online business materials can well assist teachers and students to achieve an excellent learning results. With paper text books, magazines or newspapers, a teacher may have to purchase them with their own money or school budgets. Moreover, those materials can be dated very quickly; sometimes new information would be updated within one day, and those learning materials, especially finance news, might not be meaningful anymore in a very short time. Therefore, spending money on paper materials would increase the expenses and reduce the freshness. Unlike paper text books, most of the online resources are free, and teachers can quickly find cost-effective materials. If a responsible teacher wants to provide high quality materials, buying a famous business book can cost him/her a fortune. However, if we search relative articles, cases, definitions or strategies from reputable websites, such as Forbes, CNN Money, Google Finance, and WSJ, we can save hundreds of dollars and still provide students with very professional and up-to-date learning materials at the same time. In conclusion, online resources are quick to find, cost-efficient to use and comprehensive to present. This kind of resources support teachers to generate more intriguing teaching atmosphere, achieve excellent teaching results and provide students with professional and interesting learning materials.
