There are many reasons why learning techniques are so important in the classroom. Learning techniques provide lots of different ways for students of all levels to participate and learn in different ways. Audio learning for example is a form of learning by listening to an audio tape, dvd or any recording in that matter. It is a learning technique that is formed by habit and conditioning. Audio learning is also a great technique, as you can do other things such as writing, demonstrating a movement or acting out a scene while still listening and taking information in. Task based learning is another technique used commonly in the classroom and has been for a large period of time. Task learning is basically what the words say to you whilst learning and completing a task. This can be made into different tasks or games to make the learning more interesting for the students. Once the students have completed that task either on their own or in a group, they can then go over their results with the teacher and work out what specific skills they need to improve on. Teachers can also take note here while planning their future lessons and keep in mind what the students weaknesses and strength are to focus on next lesson. Group work is also a great way to get all the students involved. It encourages the students to get to know the names of others in the classroom and work as a team to complete tasks such as games, paragraphed of writing word gap exercises ect. Group work is also a great techniques to use when the teacher notices some students struggling more than others. The weaker students will not be afraid to speak up with their answers with the whole class watching. This gives them an opportunity to speak up in small group, with the security of other students correcting them and informing them why the answer is correct or incorrect without anyone feeling singled out. One of the most common learning techniques used in the classroom today are games. The reason why this is so popular is because there are so many games to choose from depending in the topic of learning or the classroom vibe and students needs. You can use games as a learning technique as an activity by separating the students into pairs or groups and asking them to complete the task together. Another way is simply stand in front of the class and complete the games all together with help from the teacher when needed. Although the teacher doesn't want to interfere in the students learning too much as it would defeat the purpose of the class lesson. Teachers should only give clues or correct the students when necessary or can clearly see the activity will not move any further forward without help. Some examples of games that are great to use in the classroom are, fill the gaps, hangman, crosswords, mimes, role play ect. Anagrams are also a fun way of learning. For an anagram the teacher gets the students to organise themselves into groups of two-four to makes it interesting and keep them competitive with one another. The teacher would have prepared a word that is cut up into seperate letters and places between the students. It is then up to the teacher if they would like to give the students clues to work out the work faster or let the students use their imagination more to place the letters in the correct order to complete the word. The teacher may have a score board in which they keep track of who completes the most words in the shortest period of time. Word linking is another techniques that can be used in conjunction with anagrams. Once all the words have been completed the groups then all have to come up with a way to include them into a sentence. Another technique that is used for all age groups and levels of learning is memory games. This is when the teacher has arranged a number or pictures or words with duplicates and the students need to remember where the pairs have been placed as they are turned over to create as many pairs as possible. When this activity is done with pictures it helps the students develop a visual pitcher to the word. A great techniques is to have one set of cards as pictures, and another set as words. Then ask the students to pair them up correctly. In conclusion, there are many learning and teaching techniques that can be used for all ages levels of learning. Teaching techniques are something that is used in almost every classroom lesson in some way or another, it helps students with visuals, pronunciation and spelling of grammar. These teaching techniques can also be used in every day to day life to develop more exciting environments for communication.
