Though a number of problems can arise depending on students' comfortability with English, and perhaps comfortability with peers, there are methods for improving participation and understanding. Without chastising students in a negative way for speaking in their native language, teachers should always encourage English and require it during classroom activities. If a student is struggling, the teacher can pair him or her with a stronger student, or encourage more group work. In order to maintain engagement, teachers should not just rely on the course book, but prepare discussions and warmers to make learning exciting.
