Teach English in Xiazhen Zhen - Shangrao Shi
These two videos showed me examples of an efficient and inefficient lesson. The first lesson was held badly as students were confused. A teacher didn't introduce himself and didn't ask students' names so no rapport with learners was established and later on he was pointing with his finger instead of calling out their names. He began the engaging stage though students hardly understood the point and instead of explaining it with other words the teacher was repeating the same sentences, the students became very tired and were losing their focus. During the activation part, he introduced the game, even though it was a bit fun to play, students were very confused about the rules as well as the teacher. By the end of the game, the teacher chose the winner according to his preferences and emphasized that one team won and the other one lost. At the end of the lesson the teacher left without saying goodbye and left confused students alone. In my opinion, students had negative opinion about such lesson that is why it is important for a teacher to stay confident, be flexible and be able to explain clearly and simple. The second lesson, on the other hand, was held completely different. The teacher started the engaging stage with warming up and discussing the things that students knew and then, he smoothly moved on to the main topic of the lesson. He was smiling, he did the ice breaking part so he built the connection with students, therefore they were relaxed and engaged in the lesson. The topic was explained clearly and the tasks were managed properly. I enjoyed watching the second video. It showed a positive example of the lesson, gave me ideas as a teacher that I can bring to the class.
