This unit demonstrates good teaching techniques from poor and unsuccessful teaching techniques by showing two different videos of the same teacher giving an English lesson to Thai students. The first lesson in the first video was not a successful lesson for many reasons. First, the teacher did not introduce himself kindly to the students, nor did he ask the students what their names are. This demonstration of an unsuccessful teaching technique illustrates poor rapport between the teacher and students, thus facilitating uncomfortable feelings of the students to fully participate in a positive learning environment. Second, the teacher was unclear with explaining the language point to the students because he did not use proper elicitation techniques, as he did use in the second lesson. In the second lesson, the teacher successfully used board work to elicit the student's vocabulary to help them correctly put sentences together by writing the auxiliary verbs on the board.
