This unit is all about teaching productive skills: speaking and writing. It explains the difference between accuracy and fluency, however they are both equally important. There are different types of speaking activities in the classroom: controlled activities, guided activities and creative communication. The unit then goes on the give techniques to encourage interaction. These include pair-work, group-work, making speaking activities purposeful and careful planning. It provides an example of a typical free/creative speaking activity lesson. The unit then goes on to writing skills. It also provides an example of a typical creative writing activity lesson. The final part of the unit discusses games in the classroom. It discusses the purpose of games and some game examples, i.e. twenty questions, hangman, pictionary, etc.
