As a native English speaker, this unit on how to teach articulation and phonetics was interesting to study. I found the phonetic alphabet very foreign-feeling, fun, and difficult all at the same time. I think that teaching English using phonetics will be a huge challenge for me as it is a tool I am very unfamiliar with. I understand its use and purpose, but it would be a big step for me to actually use it spontaneously to teach pronunciation. I think that I would honestly have to look up words ahead of time and practice writing them before presenting them in class on the board. This unit was very technical, but I think it was very necessary to study as I now understand how pronunciation and articulation are a big challenge for English learners. The information presented in the unit will be a helpful tool to refer back to at at future date.
