This unit discussed the receptive skills of reading and listening and the reasons why people read and listen: for a purpose and for entertainment. The lesson also covers how we read and listen and some of the problems students may encounter. It also discusses the ways a teacher can approach language difficulty by exploring the text, the topic, and the tasks the students will perform. Again, my favorite part of this unit was the ESA Patchwork lesson plan showing the basic keys to planning successful receptive skills lessons.
