The reasons that are described include reading and listening for a purpose, for entertainment, for detailed information, for specific information, or for a general idea. I learned from this unit that it is recommended to pre-teach difficult vocabulary and structures prior to a reading or listening activity. This recommendation will help the students feel more confident when reading or listening to the activity, as well as having a better and clearer understanding of the text material.
