I learned from this unit that there are four basic skills in any language which is receptive skills compose of reading and listening and productive skills compose of speaking and writing. Also, I learned that reading and listening are not only focus by simply looking or hearing by using our eyes and ears, but also using our brains to distinguish or understand text or words and be able to process them in the level of our knowledge to fully understand the whole real message it contains. To be able to understand it to the fullest our minds must only be able to recognize and understand the words but also be able to understand their definition. We also need to think of how to choose our topics to the students not the topics that interest us as teachers because this will motivate them to participate making it more enjoyable and relaxing inside the classroom. We must be sensitive to our students, know them and what interest them because this will be very important if we want to be effective and productive in class. Finally, I learned that we can get the students to engage by exploring or studying the topic, showing pictures, predicting what the text will be about.
