This unit clarified the importance of the four types of language skills, reading, listening, speaking and writing. It put into context how a successful lesson plan incorporates all of these skills ensuring that the equal importance of them all are paramount. It was also useful to understand how learning actively for a purpose and learning passively, for entertainment are both forms of learning that a teacher may be able to incorporate into a lesson should they desire.
