This chapter of study was very interesting to me. I have known the phonemic alphabet existed and that it was used in dictionaries to help with pronunciation but I have never studied the chart. I would not have known how to teach from the chart. The teaching demonstration video was very helpful for me as I was learning along with the students. Pronunciation is important for new language learners. when they speak in the new language people judge their level of language right away. Students strive to have good pronunciation and I have only practiced individual sounds or drill with words to help with the pronunciation. I also monitor closely the students in my conversation partner classes and help them to correct the mispronounced words. But now I have more activities and more tools for helping me to improve my teaching skills in this area.
