In this unit I read about two types of skills. There are receptive, which consist of taking in information from reading and listening and productive skills that deal with expressing information like writing and speaking. All these skills are equally important and we need to create lessons that will develop these skills in our students. I also learned about the different types of reading we do. There is skimming, scanning, detail reading, and predicting to name a few. We can consider these reading purposes in our lessons. For example if you want the students to exercise their skimming skills you can give them an article to look over, perhaps with a time limit, and ask them to summarize the idea.
