Obviously just to imagine "listening" and "reading" sounds pretty straight forward ! But it has been very interesting to discover in more detail just how our minds work when doing these 2 activities. Globally the difference is the importance of being very concentrated to understand detailed information that we need to know (instructions for example), or the act of just getting a "rough idea" or understanding the "outline" of an information that we are reading or that is being told to us if this is enough for our needs at that moment (for entertainment for example). Classes should use both types of reading and listening skills, as both are important in the understanding and learning of English.
