Reading and listening are two of the four skills that are necessary in our use of a language. This unit lays out these receptive skills, and gives us a good look at how to teach them. In order to provide interesting and natural texts or audio, there will be times when complex words or grammar is used. In these instances, in order for a teacher to help keep their student's confidence, it is important for the teacher to pre-teach difficult vocabulary and language. Also, while authentic texts and audio are a good tool, it is important to remember your student's levels, because a beginner student may face many challenges when presented with an authentic text or audio.
