Flashcards are essential in pronunciation and vocabulary teaching, especially at the Beginner level/Upper-beginner levels. The use of flashcards is universal in the English speaking world. In early education methods, especially children, it is really effective to use flashcards in teaching a new language. Help children practice memory, developing vocabulary even when not using the native language. I will introduce 5 activities using flashcards. The number of students is about 12-16 students. 1. Hide and seek. (Flashcards will hide và students will seek) Divide the class into 2 teams, first the teacher places the flashcards(They could be numbers, shapes, words, pictures, and even sentences) on the floor, the team members close their eyes, the teacher takes out any card and the 2 team members discuss and find Card is removed. Do the same with 5 times. 2. sticky ball stick flashcards on the board, divide the class into 2 teams. The teacher speaks out loud a vocabulary, a member of each team will throw the sticky ball to the flashcards they think is right. Ask both teams to call out the vocabulary. At the end, which team is more correct then the team wins. This activity 3. picture-word match race divide the class into 2 teams use two sets of picture and word cards. Prepare 20 balloons and 10 vocabulary words, each of them will be stuck on 2 balloons. Paste the word on the ball. First, a member of each team will race to select a balloon, see what the word on the balloon is and then bring the balloon back to the basket so that the ball does not break then look for the picture card and bring it to the basket, so that has completed 1 round of play, then the next member to join the game. Each person only has 1 turn to play. When the time is up, the members hold balloons and picture cards in their hands and read the vocabulary aloud, the team with the most correct answer is winning. The time for this game is 5 minutes. (number of students is from 12-16 students) 4. musical card Each student will be given a card and place the cards in a circle on the floor. Students form a circle outside the cards. The teacher will play hilarious songs for students to walk around. When the music stops suddenly, the student will have to stand still and the teacher will randomly select a student to read the vocabulary of the card where they stopped if the student reads correctly, continue to participate, if they are wrong they will leave the circle and doesn't join anymore. The time for this activity is 10 minutes. when the time is up, the students who are in the circle will win and get a small gift. this activity helps students increase their reflexes with words and practice pronunciation. 5. listen and copy. Divide the class into 2 teams Each team lined up in a row and turned away from the teacher. First, one member of each team will come up to the teacher to look at the word card that the teacher holds, then quickly talk softly into the teammates' ears, each person will pass the information to the next, last member receives information and looks for the picture cards corresponding to the word cards and read out the vocabulary. This activity helps students improve their listening and pronunciation skills.
