Teach English in Xuxiake Zhen - Wuxi Shi

There are so many talented people out there in different professions who are devoting themselves to the good of society every day. As a teacher, we can help to develop student’s knowledge and maybe even their mind and personality. But not all teachers are confident enough in front of their students during their teaching time. If this happens for too long, sooner or later their students will lose their trust in the teacher and the teacher may be losing their self belief for a teaching career. After more than 7 months from the first day I taught English and gained with some practical experience for myself, I have found out some things that teachers need in order to increase their confidence in the class. They are preparation, practice, enthusiasm, knowledge and appearance. The first is how carefully the teacher prepared for the lesson. All the teachers should prepare lesson plans before entering the classroom. An effective lesson plan can help teachers be able to deliver the lesson within a given time and be aware of what he/she intends on teaching students. It can also help the teacher to focus on the basic knowledge first before moving to the next step. All the necessary materials, and all the technology equipment should be prepared and checked by the teacher before the lesson. By being well-prepared, the teacher can know what is happening and what will happen throughout the lesson. And of course he/she will feel much more confident in all circumstances. I can remember clearly my first English class, which is marked a turning point in my life. This class only had four students at the age of eight. I was really nervous before that very first time so I went to the web to find out and see all the sample lessons, ordering a series of textbooks. I also consulted experienced teachers who gave helpful advice about the first lessons. And the truth is all those preparations are really helped me to have an effective class. My first day teaching was amazing. The second factor to improving teachers' confidence is practice. Practice makes up the skills and experience that will help the teacher feel confident. The best way to be good at doing something is practice, by doing it many times and putting a lot of hard work in it. By practicing, teachers can determine their weaknesses and overcome them. Through practice they willingly fight and make mistakes. Good things will be retained and strengthened, and restrictions will be removed. A teacher will be rewarded for his/her effort by investing their time, their energy, their knowledge to practice. That is a gift of confidence. Throughout my teaching process, I have asked my family members to record videos of the lessons to give me the opportunity to look back at my classes and learn from there. I easily noticed not only my confidence but my English speaking ability improved dramatically. Now I can confidently use almost 100% English in the classroom to teach English to young people at the ages of three to ten years old. I use this new language more and more naturally, and of course I love it more and more. The enthusiasm of the teacher is an important thing in the class. Teacher’s motivation, positive attitude and happy face will create an amazing learning environment for students. They will feel comfortable and happy to absorb knowledge gently. With enthusiasm, teachers can help their students to willingly do all the exercises and activities during the class. Sometimes, we need to pretend that we are full of energy and confident even if we are not. But it is necessary to motivate our students to learn. Teacher's knowledge and appearance also greatly affect the confidence of teachers before their students. It is clear that with extensive knowledge, teachers will be confident to convey to students as well as answer students' questions. Therefore, the continuous learning and expansion of knowledge will help teachers not become obsolete and allow them to catch up with the huge increase of knowledge in the world. Learning from other excellent teachers is essential for teachers who do not have much experience. There may be many people who say that appearance is not very necessary for teachers but I think that if teachers are well-dressed, tidy, and energetic, students will like it more and will learn more effectively. As a teacher we both know that there are many other things that teachers need to learn to be confident in the class besides preparation, practicing, and knowledge. A teacher who is always eager to learn, always trains themselves, and loves their students will always do the best for their students. They will try their best to figure it out during their teaching career.
