When I started this course I was a monolingual American with no experience or training in TEFL. Now I have had some introductory training and at least have a basic idea of where to start as I teach english. One of the things that I have personally gained is a good refresher on the language that I am to teach, and an awareness of my need to continue learning as I teach. I see that I need to be learning as I am teaching. Also, I am confident that I will be able to learn what I need in order to successfully teach. The lesson planning was very helpful for me as well. I appreciate the need for preparation and organization and the procedure for this that is laid out in the course. This has helped me think through some of the issues that I may face in the class room as well. From here I need to continue to learn my native language (english) in a more technical way so that I am able to teach more advanced students competently. Also I need to start preparing a couple of teaching notebooks that have resources and other essentials in them so that I have something to go from as I begin teaching. I am excited to see how this teaching goes. I am expecting it to be difficult and challenging, and even a bit discouraging at the beginning, but I know that it will be rewarding to see the students learn and grow in their abilities. I must keep at it, and as I continue to grow as a teacher, I will continue to teach well and be encouraged. I want to serve the students the best that I can!
