This course has been a wonderful opportunity for me to learn and grow as a person. I?ve been teaching for over 20 years, and I have encountered my fair share of students that were not english speakers. I have always been patient with them and taught them the best way I knew how. I have now gained such a broad knowledge base on teaching english as a second language; I now feel prepared to help any student, at any language level, and at any age reach their english language goals. From this course, I?ve also realized that english is a difficult language to learn. There are so many grammar rules that it can be confusing to even a native speaker! Therefore, patience, guidance, and proper planning are required to suitably teach those without english language skills. Currently, I am teaching at an elementary school. One of my students is not a native english speaker and is working on building his skills. I have been able to help him more and more as I progress through this program. If I continue to teach in elementary education, I?m sure my TEFL knowledge will be an invaluable asset to new students struggling to learn english. I also may be embarking on a new career as an ESL teacher at a language school in the united states. I am very excited about teaching a multilingual class. Not only would I be helping people to accomplish their goals, but I would be exposed to many new cultures as well. ITTT has taught me grammar skills, organization, and patience. I will certainly never forget to engage, study, and activate!
