Although I am currently teaching, all be it for the short time of 8 months, this course has taught me a lot. I have personally found that the engage ? study ? activate structure in the lesson planning being of particular benefit. It has taught me that engaging the class is, to me, the most important part of the lesson as it gets the class warmed up ready to study and participate. I was also, I suppose, scared to play a game or activity unrelated to the lesson, thinking the students and the teachers may think it?s the wrong thing to do. At the end of the day, it?s your classroom, and as long as the students enjoy and learn relevantly, you can?t go wrong. Also, the managing of larger classes has been a great help to me, with the different strategies of seating and group activities. I take classes of up to 55 students and rearranging the seating has been most beneficial. I still need to pick up on my grammar, but it?s come on leaps and bounds since starting this course. Like I?ve said many times, I know how use it, it?s explaining the why. Now I feel confident explaining most different areas of english grammar when students and even Thai english teachers look to me for advice. Overall, this course has definitely filled in plenty of gaps for my style and the theory of teaching. I am more confident I could walk into any classroom and give a well structured, informative and fun lesson, anywhere I choose to go.
