There are four basic skills in language learning. They are receptive skills – reading and listening, and productive skills – speaking and writing. All are equally important during language learning. There are two reasons for reading and listening, for a purpose or for entertainment. I also learnt some skills for reading and listening, such as predictive skills, scanning, skimming and so on.
