Unit 11 has taught me to differentiate skills on both reading and listening. From the reading, I learned that 1) predictive skills are making guesses of the context base on the headline of the reading. 2) scanning (specific information) is when we try to find out particular information by reading or listening, but in this sense, we do not have to finish the entire reading since we just aim for the result. 3) Skimming for general ideas would be trying to figure out the general idea of the reading/listening material so that we do not have to read or listen to every single word in the context. 4) Reading/listening for detailed information is when we have to comprehend something important so that we must read and listen carefully in order to understand it fully. 5) Deductive skills would be understanding what is obvious between the lines of people's words/writing.
