This unit covers the receptive skills; reading and listening. There is two reasons and motives for reading and listening. When we want to achieve some aims and goals, we read and listen for a purpose, whereas when we read and listen our favorite book and radio, it’s for entertainment. When reading and listening, readers and listener can employ many specialist skills like predictive, scanning, skimming, and deduction, etc. Teachers have to organize their lesson plan for making students use these skills in their performance. In reading and listening class, teachers have to teach the difficult and unknown words in advance. Also, it is important for teachers to select topic, which is interesting to their students. When it comes to authentic materials like news paper teachers have to select depending on the student’s level. For beginners, authentic material must be too difficult and not understandable to make students feel frustrated and confused.
