Effective English teachers must have cultivated the skill of engaging their students in learning. As foreign speaking students exploring a new language, it is likely that some will lack motivation and become discouraged as they navigate the nuances of the English language. English teachers must see this as an opportunity to reignite their students’ excitement and boost their enthusiasm for studying the new language. This can be done by means of games, role-plays, and other exciting activities. The teacher’s disposition and attitude toward the material being presented also plays a major role in the students level of enthusiasm and excitement for the lesson. A teacher that maintains a positive outlook of the class will surely have a great impact on the students’ level of engagement. English teachers must always take the initiative and be thoroughly prepared for each lesson. They should take time to review the prepared material and envision how the material will be presented to the class in order to be most effective. Teachers should always strive to maintain a high level of professionalism, being careful to remain respectful of their student’s cultures, traditions, and learning styles.
