As a person who has grown up in a country where english is the native language, one tends to pick up bad habits and take things for granted that non-english speakers do not always understand. The tefl course has allowed me to identify areas that need to be explained to non-english students, areas that may not have occurred to me. The TEFL course has not only taught me so much about the english language, but also about how to teach and impart my knowledge of the language to those who have not grown up being exposed to english. This course has been invaluable in teaching me to be able to interact, teach and guide learners to not only further their knowledge of the english language, but to also aid in their personal development. This course has allowed me to recap on my basic grammar and vocabulary which will be very useful as a second language english teacher. It has showed me how to approach the students and how to organize them so that they are able to interact with one another effectively. This course has taught me how to deal with different types of situations and students, and it has afforded me the techniques and methods to navigate my way through a multitude of different types of lessons and needs that the students may have. I feel secure in the fact that I will be able to clearly explain and engage students, as I have been made aware of the needs that they may have. In saying this, this course has also shown me that through experience I will develop as a teacher and learn more and more about how to interact and teach my students. This course has provided me with a multitude of teaching ideas, which I can use as a reference in any of my future teaching positions. TEFL has provided me with vital teaching tools, and I feel confident that I will feel comfortable in a classroom environment. This course has been invaluable, and would be highly recommended to anyone who is considering teaching english as a second language.
